Gallup fire fighter Josh Bond secures a harness around a blood hound Friday morning while Michael Hoffman stands by at the top of the cliff after the dog became stranded on the side of the rocks the day before at Red Rock Park.
Initially the police radio call came in last night about two dogs stranded on the side of the cliffs at Red Rock Park. A volunteer fire fighter was trying to get to them, but he did not have additional people or ropes, and daylight was failing, so the rescue got put off until this morning. Overnight one of the dogs managed to find its way down, but this blood hound hunkered down. While the photos show the scene, they do not show how cold it was and how bad the wind was blowing. Frankly, it was cold!
